UK Trade & Investment @ KORMARINE '09 (28/10/2009)
KORMARINE is one of the leading shipbuilding and marine exhibitions in the world. The exhibition is held biennially in conjunction with Naval & Defence Show and Sea-Port Show under the umbrella of 'Marine Week' in the Busan Exhibition & Convention Centre (BEXCO).
A total of 1,100 firms took part in the Marine Week event, which represented a 15% increase from last year. A total of 600 (60%) of the firms that took part were foreign companies and over 35,000 people visited the event.
There were thirteen national pavilions from UK, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Austria, Canada, Singapore, USA, Italy, Korea and China at KORMARINE 2009. British pavilion is the sixth largest presence at the show.
Of the 37 British firms that participated in KORMARINE event these included the BMEA delegation, which comprised 11 firms. Overall, British firms participating at the British pavilion were satisfied with quality of the exhibition. Many of them agreed that the show gave them a good opportunity to meet with customers and partners at the same time, as well as receive some business leads during the show.
BMEA Networking Reception
The reception was held on Thursday, 22nd October 2009 from 6 pm to 8 p.m. Approximately 100 guests attended including British exhibitors and their Korean guests. Youngran Lee, Trade Officer of the UK Trade & Investment, said, “UK Trade & Investment Korea team has long participated in KORMARINE since early 1980s. British companies have successfully promoted their products such as high-voltage switchgears, propulsion systems, marine engines, marine radar & navigation system, and ranges of marine windscreen wipers etc. through this exhibition. There has always been a very good business and cultural relationship between Korea and Britain which has been nurtured over many years and will continue as Korea maintains its position as a leading shipbuilding nation”UK companies participated at the British Pavilion
