How to apply for a UK passport in Korea

The Consular Section of the British Embassy in Seoul offers a full passport service to British nationals resident or visiting the Republic of Korea.

Public opening hours

The Consular Section of the British Embassy Seoul is open to the public on:

Fee-paying services: Monday-Friday, 09:30-12:00

Fee-paying services include:

  • passport and notarial applications
  • birth registrations
  • and for pre-booked appointments (marriage, notarial, citizenship ceremonies)

General enquiries: Monday-Friday, 14:00-16:30

At these times, we are open for general enquiries and non-fee paying services only.

Passport services at our offices

At our office in Seoul you can:

  • collect passport application forms
  • collect the LS01 form to report your passport as lost or stolen
  • pay your passport fee in person by cash, or Korean bank cheque
  • submit your passport application form in person.

UK passports are issued at our Seoul office only.

You can also:

  • post your passport application form to the Embassy if you are paying the fee by money order 'Woo Pyun Hwan', which you can purchase at any post office*
  • download passport application forms from the web-site

What to submit

To apply for a UK passport in Seoul you must submit:

  • your completed application form
  • your 2 passport photographs
  • your supporting documents
  • your previous passport
  • the correct fee in Korean currency.

If you are sending your passport application by post, you must pay the passport fee(s) by Korean bank cheque or money order.

Processing your passport application

It takes 10 working days to process your passport application from the date we receive it.

Our staff will not be able to process your application or there may be a delay issuing your passport if:

  • you have used the wrong form or completed it incorrectly
  • you do not provide the correct fee
  • you do not include the correct postal or courier charge.

The Embassy provides a wide range of passport services to British (Nationals) passport holders in South Korea. Many of these services are now available without the need to visit the Embassy. Passport applications can be submitted IN PERSON during consular service hours (please click here for service hours) or BY (POST) MAIL. For postal application, you can pay the fee with a Korean money order 'Woo Pyun Hwan' which you can purchase at any post office. The payee should be 'British Embassy - Seoul'. Please add W3,000 to the money order for return postage. Alternatively, you can receive your passport by Courier and pay the fee on receipt.
