The Defence Section within the British Embassy Seoul is responsible for representing the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence within Korea.  Its mission is to help foster relations between the UK Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Korea through achieving mutual understanding and collaboration on defence issues.  As such, the Defence Section is responsible for administering the bilateral Defence and Service level relations between our two countries.  The Defence Section is headed by an Army Brigadier who is the personal representative of the United Kingdom's Chief of Defence Staff.  The Defence Section is responsible for providing defence advice to Her Majesty's Ambassador, as well as our Korean Defence Colleagues as appropriate. 

In addition, the Defence Section provides the United Kingdom's contribution to the United Nations Military Armistice Commission within Korea consisting of the Senior Commonwealth Member, the National Liaison Officer and an Assistant National Liaison Officer.

A key part of the Defence Section's role is to help administer visits and exchanges between the two nations military's.
